About Counselling and Psychotherapy

What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling is about talking to someone, whom you trust, about your worries, concerns, difficulties or anxieties. It can provide the space and time for you to explore and express your thoughts and feelings, often enabling you to feel clearer and less confused. The process can help you to achieve insight and the ability to resolve a situation in your life. It is an opportunity to seek something different for your life and is the first step in a process of change. The process can be exciting and deeply meaningful whilst also uncomfortable at times.

My philosophy

As a Person-Centred therapist I listen in such a way that is non-judgemental; I do not give you advice or tell you what to do but try to help you reach your own answers, outcomes and decisions. My philosophy is that every individual has an innate capability to realise their full potential. Counselling can provide the environment whereby you can connect with your own inner resources and develop the capacity to reflect upon and make your own choices in life, enabling you to overcome blocks to achieving health and well-being.

Getting Started

The first step is to email me or call me and we can arrange a time to meet for the first appointment. Click here to email. This is an opportunity to talk about your needs and requirements and to ask any questions that you may have. This initial assessment allows you to experience how a therapy session might be for you and to see if I am the right therapist for you. It allows me to ascertain if I will be able to help and support you with your concerns or issues or to suggest other options that may be available to you, if necessary.
